Electri[city] proposal suggests the use of new innovative ways of producing electricity. The new building, located in the commercial zone of Ursus, acts as a mechanism for energy production and optimum use of the city.
A new definition of industry is introduced within the city where people become the main activators for the production of electricity. The building acts as a ‘’trap’’ for people; controlling people movement and flow as well as direction. It will be a self-sustaining infrastructure where people will produce electricity while engaging with a variety of fun activities both in the interior and exterior of the building. By producing electricity, the individual gains a sense of ownership not only in relation to the building but to the city as a whole. The main intention of the proposal is to enhance connections between segregated communities and to maximise social interactions.
‘’It is people who will take the empty shells of buildings and make them function. It is people who take space and turn it into places’’
De Certeau, Walking in the city,(1984)
