After a month of being restricted to only model making, today 2nd year M.Arch students had a mini review of work since the new year. From scales of 1:20,000 to 1:1, from the insanely pristine to the chaotic and impenetrable, our collective models were an intriguing variety of the complex, pragmatic, structural, programmatic, strategic, diagrammatic, detailed and … wonderful! We are just over a month into the development of our urban strategy to building proposition. Exploring our ideas through only physical models has been, at times, challenging (sore fingers anyone?), but incredibly rewarding as a way of working. Long may it continue!
To coincide with Wednesday’s RIBA State of the Profession Symposium and tomorrows open day, there is a mini exhibition of work from BA and M.Arch on the 2nd floor gallery space. M.Arch are exhibiting ongoing work (all models) from both 1st (Plymouth Waterfront) and 2nd year (Ursus). The work that was temporarily removed for todays review will go back up this evening so go check it out – otherwise, feel free to pop into the studio.
Next week, most 2nd years are in London for the symposium on Wednesday 20th Feb while first years will be busy preparing for their Schematic Review on Friday 22nd Feb – good luck!
Here are some photos from the morning….
